Panama Boquete Classico

True to it’s name, this is a classic Panamanian bean from the Casa Ruiz mill in the Boquete region. Coffee trees, mainly typica and caturra, are grown between 1,100 and 1,400 meters at the edge of the Baru Volcano. Boquete Classico ensures that the coffee is grown with local, traditional agricultural practices without the use of chemicals or pesticides. The Ruiz family has promoted sustainable farming methods over three generations. They now work with more than 300 smaller farms locally to produce better coffee with less impact on the environment.

This coffee comes from the Carpenter Estates that reside at 1,600 meters in the Waghi Valley. The farm grows mainly typica variety trees that are carefully tended in a ecologically conscious manner with sustainable practices such as shade growing and water and soil conservation. The beans are carefully processed at the company’s mills adhering to stringent quality control requirements. The Carpenter company supports several schools to educate the communities’ children and provides management and agricultural advice to smaller coffee estates.

This coffee comes from tiny farms that dot the mountain sides around Lake Kivu.  Milled at the cooperatively owned Gatare washing station, these beans come fro strictly bourbon varietal trees that grow in volcanic soil at altitudes of between 1,700 and 2,000 meters.

Uganda Bugisu AA Double Pick

This twice-sorted coffee from the Bugisu region grows on farms perched along the steep sides of Mt. Elgon, which sits along the eastern border of  Kenya. Due to rocky terrain and a lack of roads, farmers transport their coffee to the processing mill by donkey.
